Carpe Diem
I recently saw a song “Carpe Diem” on someone’s blog as I was blog hopping. Their blog was focusing on Fitness and self-care and obviously “seizing the day” — all very positive and go-get-em kind of things — encouraging people to exercise and eat right and have a bucket list and all of those things you associate with Carpe Diem.
But for myself, I tend to grab too much to put into my day – mostly good stuff, but then, what I call ‘good’ may cause one to pause…
Lysa TerKeurst wrote a great book “The Best Yes” and after reading it, I latched on to that phrase and found asking myself that question: “What is my Best Yes?”. It truly simplified my decision making and gave me the backbone to Carpe Diem.
So Carpe Diem for me came to be “seize the day – seize it away from busyness – even ‘good’ busyness and begin to Pay Attention.
Seize the Day for myself. I accepted that I had the right and responsibility to say “No”. How mind-blowingly free I felt!
Seize the day and steal away to a quiet place for reflection and meditation. How grateful I am for my little pond. How DARE me not go out there and just enjoy!!! How DARE me not Carpe this Diem right in my own back yard! How DARE me be too busy to savor this special place, full of LIFE.
Seize the day to Pay Attention to what is right at hand – and just sit and Savor the day – being still – and knowing – that God is.
And Yes, Seize the day to go work out – if that’s what I really need to do…hmmm. Prob’ly not… gotta feed the fish.
Ok, I’ll admit it – I’m a work in progress – Progress, not perfection.
